Mumbai: On the 15th anniversary and Annual Championship Conference of India's International Movement to Unite Nations (I.I.M.U.N.) on Wednesday, Gen Z and Gen Alpha students gathered at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Bandra to participate in an interaction session with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat.
Students share their expectations
Speaking to reporters, one of the student attendees said, "I support PM Modi with what he's doing right now. I really appreciate IIMUN and its founder for creating this platform for young people like us to come together and share our thoughts and ideas about the future of this nation."
Another student said the excitement among participants had reached its peak ahead of Bhagwat's interaction. "Coming to IIMUN, I met so many new people who have taught me so much. I felt this would be a great experience and provide immense exposure among so many people present here. I'm very excited to listen to him and the other speakers who will be present at the event," the student said.
She further added that the event offered a valuable opportunity for students to interact directly with Bhagwat and connect with him.
Another attendee described the event as excellent exposure for students of their age. "For the first time, I am going to listen to him speak live on stage," she said.
Views on youth engagement
She added that she decided to attend the event after reading about it in a newspaper. Speaking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she said he has introduced initiatives that motivate the youth and contribute to the country's development.
The student also said that such events should not be limited to Mumbai or other Indian cities but should be organised globally, as they can help shape young minds by offering diverse perspectives and greater exposure.
About the conference
Meanwhile, Bhagwat is scheduled to interact with more than 2,000 students during the inaugural ceremony of IIMUN's Annual Championship Conference.
Founded in 2011 by Rishabh Shah, IIMUN describes itself as a public affairs platform focused on promoting the idea of Bharat and preparing young people for leadership. The organisation's programmes are primarily led by students between the ages of 15 and 24.
