Welcome Actor Mushtaq Khan Dies At 56 After Battling Liver Cancer Following 15-Day Hospitalisation

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his role in Welcome, has passed away. He was reportedly admitted to Nanavati Hospital. Khan was also remembered for his iconic dialogue, “Meri ek tang nakli hai.”

Mushtaq Khan Dies At 56

Mushtaq Khan’s death was confirmed by his business partner Shivam to Aaj Tak. He passed away on September 24, 2026, after battling cancer. The actor was first diagnosed with cancer around five years ago, but the disease had recently returned, leading to a deterioration in his health.

Mushtaq Khan’s funeral ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 25, 2026.

Who Was Mushtaq Khan?

Mushtaq Khan was a familiar face in Hindi cinema, with a career spanning over four decades and a filmography packed with memorable supporting and character roles. He was particularly remembered as Ballu, the former hockey player in Welcome in 2007. Mushtaq was also seen in Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Hera Pheri, Jodi No. 1, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Welcome Back, Gadar 2 and Stree 2. He was also featured in recent projects such as The Railway Men and Jaat.

Beyond Hindi cinema, Khan also worked across regional industries, appearing in Gujarati films including Bas Ek Chance and Romeo & Radhika, as well as the Marathi film Delivery Boy, Bengali film Sesh Jibon and other regional projects. Mushtaq Khan Family

Mushtaq was born in Baihar town of Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district. The actor is survived by his wife, Salma Khan, and their two sons, Mohammed Arshad Khan and Mohshin Khan. While Arshad is married to Saba Khan, a teacher, Mohshin has reportedly pursued modelling, adding another creative connection to the late actor’s family.
