Aamir Khan Turns Down Massive ₹120 Crore OTT Deal From Amazon Prime For Sitaare Zameen Par
Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par hits theatres on June 20 and will not release on OTT. He reportedly turned down ₹120 crore from Amazon Prime for digital rights. According to Komal Nahta, Aamir aims to see if delaying OTT access boosts theatre visits. The film may later be released on YouTube, but not for free.

Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par is just a few days away from its theatrical release on June 20. The 60-year-old actor has confirmed that the film will not have an OTT release and will be available exclusively in cinemas. Amid this, the actor reportedly has rejected a massive Rs 120 crore from OTT platform Amazon Prime Video for the digital rights of the film.
According to trade analyst Komal Nahta, Aamir wants to assess whether withholding a film's availability on digital platforms for eight weeks after its release can motivate audiences to return to cinemas. The actor will reportedly make Sitaare Zameen Par available on YouTube after its successful theatrical run, but it won’t be free, the audiences will have to pay to watch the film.

However, it does not confirm whether the film will be available on YouTube immediately after its theatrical run, something that would have been certain had he sold the digital rights to Amazon Prime. The Rs 120 crore offered by Amazon was for a digital release immediately after the completion of the eight-week theatrical window.
Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to Aamir's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, stars 10 newcomers - Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
The film also features Genelia Deshmukh in the lead.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Sitaare Zameen Par without any cuts.
