Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A blaze broke out late on Tuesday-Wednesday night, causing significant damage to a painter's shop in Jabalpur.
The incident occurred at around 12 am at a painter's shop located opposite the Ghantaghar Sindhi Dharamshala under the jurisdiction of the Omti Police Station, triggering panic among residents.
Prompt action averts casualties
According to eyewitnesses, locals saw smoke billowing from the shop late at night and immediately alerted the firefighters and the nearby police station. Acting swiftly upon receiving the information, the first responders arrived at the spot immediately and began efforts to control the blaze.
After long efforts, the fire was brought under control, and the prompt action prevented the blaze from spreading into all other adjacent shops and houses.
Officials can also be seen controlling the crowd, preventing people from getting too close to the burning shop while firefighters stop the blaze.
Goods reduced to ashes
However, despite their swift action and long efforts, goods stored inside the shop were reduced to ashes. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as all the shops were closed when the fire broke out.
Police officials from the Omti Police Station reached the spot and have taken note of the situation. Preliminary reports suggest that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though a short circuit is suspected.
Administration assured a detailed probe into the matter to determine the exact cause behind the blaze and assess the total loss incurred.
Fire at incense shop
Recurring incidents of fire in commercial shops have triggered serious safety concerns among residents.
Earlier on Thursday, a massive fire broke out in an incense (agarbatti) shop in Jabalpur on Thursday. The incident took place in the Gurandi area of Belbagh, causing losses worth lakhs of rupees.
