Thailand: A shooting at a high school in Thailand's Nonthaburi province on Friday left at least two people dead and several others injured, according to local media reports. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed the death toll, while emergency response operations remain underway.

Details On The Firing Incident

The incident took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, around 20 kilometres northwest of Bangkok. According to Thai media, the alleged gunman was a student who opened fire inside the school before barricading himself on the third floor of the building.

Images that have surfaced on the internet by emergency responders showed students evacuating the campus as ambulances and rescue teams rushed to the scene. One photograph showed an injured person on a stretcher outside an ambulance, while another individual received medical treatment nearby.

Royal Thai Police spokesperson Trairong Piwpan confirmed to the Associated Press that a shooting had occurred at the school but said he had no further details to share. Initial reports from Thai news outlets indicated that several people were injured and that the suspected shooter remained inside the school following the attack.

However, Reuters reported that Nonthaburi Provincial Police Commander Lt. Col. Dechrapee Kongdee later confirmed casualties and said the suspected student gunman had died by suicide. He said those injured included one teacher and three students. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to establish the motive behind the attack. Further official details are awaited as police continue their inquiry.
