UP CM Yogi Adityanath Announces 81,000 UP Police Recruitment Drive, Boosting Youth Employment Opportunities
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the transfer of police personnel who have been posted for a long time at key locations in the capital, including Raj Bhavan, the Chief Minister’s residence and Police Headquarters in Lucknow, emphasizing transparency and infusion of new energy in the system.

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the financial year 2026-27 is going to be very important for youth preparing to join the Uttar Pradesh Police. Preparations are underway to recruit more than 81,000 posts in the UP Police within this year. Chief Minister stated, "This large-scale recruitment drive will not only provide employment opportunities to youth but will also equip the state with a capable, energetic and modern police force".
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was reviewing the ongoing activities and future action plans of various units of the police department late Thursday night. He said, to further strengthen law and order, equal focus must be given to modern technology, transparent functioning and capable human resources. He directed officials to ensure accountability at every level and adopt a result-oriented work culture so that citizens receive a strong and reliable sense of security.
It was informed in the meeting that recruitment for more than 81,000 posts has been proposed across various categories, including Sub-Inspector, Constable Civil Police, Radio Assistant Operator, Computer Operator Grade-A and Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential). The process for some of these has already begun. Chief Minister directed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board to ensure that all direct recruitments are conducted with complete transparency, fairness and in accordance with prescribed reservation provisions within a fixed timeline. He emphasized making the recruitment process technology-driven and completing it within the stipulated timeframe to further strengthen the confidence of youth.
During the review of PRV-112 services, the Chief Minister directed officials to determine strategic locations for Police Response Vehicles (PRVs) and ensure their continuous movement. He said that PRV operations should be such that public confidence in safety is strengthened and a clear message is sent to criminals. Instructions were given to further reduce the current average response time of approximately 6 minutes through technology, data-based patrolling and better field coordination. Emphasis was also laid on ensuring the availability of additional four-wheelers and two-wheelers as required and making the system of revising route charts every 15 days under hotspot-based patrolling more effective.

In the review of fire and emergency services, it was informed that during 2025-26, around 42,000 fire incidents were controlled, more than 10,000 emergency incidents were responded to promptly and property worth approximately ₹800 crore was saved. The Chief Minister directed that at least one hydraulic fire tender must be available in every district. He instructed that the target of ‘One Tehsil-One Fire Tender’ should be completed on priority within a fixed timeline.
He also emphasized conducting extensive public awareness campaigns and ensuring preventive measures to reduce fire incidents during the summer season.
During the review of the cyber crime headquarters, it was informed that in the financial year 2025-26, an amount of ₹425.7 crore was secured through prompt technical intervention. The efficiency of the ‘lien’-based mechanism has reached approximately 34.6 percent. A total of 3,14,077 technical interventions (device lock/blocking) were carried out, including 1,14,220 IMEI blockings and 1,99,857 other mobile/device-related actions. A total of 3,91,340 complaints were received during the year, out of which 2,40,015 complaints were registered in the same year, and legal action was ensured in 7,287 cases.
It was also informed that the call handling capacity of the cyber helpline 1930 has increased significantly, from an average of 1,709 calls per day to approximately 7,467 calls per day. About 59 percent of total calls have been effectively resolved. Under training initiatives, 65,608 police personnel have been trained and 84,705 certificates have been issued.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed that action against cyber crimes should be made more technology-driven, swift and effective. He emphasized that safeguarding the hard-earned money of citizens is of the highest priority and directed that a widespread cyber awareness campaign be conducted across the state, safe digital practices be promoted and the 1930 helpline be further strengthened for quick resolution of complaints.
During the review of the Vigilance Establishment, it was noted that as of April 01, 2026, there were 414 pending investigations, out of which a target has been set to achieve 100% disposal of 340 investigations up to the year 2025 during 2026-27. The Chief Minister directed that actions such as trap and search operations be intensified under the zero-tolerance policy against corruption and emphasized effective implementation of time-bound construction plans for various sector offices.
While reviewing prison administration and reform services, the Chief Minister directed that all necessary arrangements be ensured for secure and smooth court appearances through video conferencing.
Regarding the police radio department, it was informed that rapid progress is being made towards implementing the e-office system across all 75 districts of the state, with digitization already completed in 63 districts. Training of 936 newly appointed chief operators will begin soon. Chief Minister emphasized further modernization, strengthening and uninterrupted functioning of the communication system.
During the review of the Economic Offences Wing, information was shared about the formation of a central crack team and strengthening of investigation monitoring through a case management system. The Chief Minister directed strict action against financial crimes along with expansion of public awareness campaigns.
Under the training directorate, it was informed that more than 60,000 constables have been provided basic training and 23.66 lakh courses have been completed under Mission Karmayogi (iGOT). Special emphasis is being laid on communication skills and practical efficiency in training. A comprehensive training programme, including 4,500 sub-inspectors, has been proposed for 2026-27. The Chief Minister directed that training should be made modern, practical and result-oriented.

During the review of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), progress in investigation and prosecution work was shared. Chief Minister directed further systematization of CID sectors and making the investigation system more effective in accordance with new criminal laws.
Regarding the Police Housing Corporation, it was informed that in the financial year 2025-26, 142 construction works were completed at a cost of approximately ₹350 crore. A target has been set to complete 226 works in a time-bound and quality manner in 2026-27. The Chief Minister directed special attention to quality and timelines in construction work and suggested the creation of a corpus fund for police housing facilities.
It was also informed that units have been established in all districts under the Civil Defence Department and approximately 7,500 volunteers have been recruited. Chief Minister emphasized developing it as a strong community participation-based system.
The Government Railway Police shared information about significant work in crime control, track security and prevention of human trafficking. Under ‘Operation Muskaan’, 2,325 children were reunited with their families. Chief Minister directed that passenger safety should be given top priority and technological surveillance be further strengthened.
