Riaz Batlivala crowned golfer of the year again

After battling it out over 36 tournaments in the golfing year, Golf Captain Mr. Riaz Batlivala once again emerged victorious as Willingdon Golfer of the Year for the second consecutive year by a big margin, with Mr. Ketan Desai & Mr. Rohaan Dalwani finishing behind him.

Riaz also won the club championship – the Janjira Cup earlier in the golfing year, a feat that he achieved after a gap of 20 years, beating top contender Mr. Khushaal Thackersey, who has won the club championship 10 times so far and was the favourite to win again.

“I couldn’t have imagined this in my wildest dreams” were the words from the captain. The hours Riaz has spent practising and striving to improve his swing and game are evident from his performance in the last two years.

Senior and ladies categories see standout winners

Donning his first-ever purple jacket as Senior Golfer of the Year was ex-captain Mr. Pradip Patel, who was proud to receive the purple jacket from his brother, Mr. Sudhir Patel, who was the Senior Golfer of the Year last year.

On his way to winning the coveted purple jacket, Pradip Patel won the Seniors Club Championship (Janjira Cup), the Willingdon Masters (Seniors) and the Willingdon Open (Seniors), amongst other tournaments.

In the ladies section, Mrs. Darshika Ajoomal took top honours, winning her first purple jacket, closely followed by Mrs. Archana Tyagi, who gave her a run for her money till the very end and was just one tournament away from equalling/surpassing her.
