Pakistan captain Babar Azam responded to chants shouting his name during the 2023 World Cup game against Netherlands on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. In a video that went viral on social media, the 28-year-old put his hand to his left ear, trying to listen to the crowd's voices.

The entire Pakistan cricket team received a rousing reception when they landed in Hyderabad ahead of the showpiece event. The likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi took to their official social media handles and expressed their gratitude.

Contrary to expectations, Babar's bat failed to produce the runs as he managed only five runs before Colin Ackermann dismissed him in his 18th delivery. Pakistan notably lost their top 3 within 10 overs, but the 120-run partnership between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan plotted the Men in Green's recovery. Handy runs from the lower order eventually lifted Pakistan to 286.

With the ball, Haris Rauf's bowled a match-turning 27th over, claiming two wickets after Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Leede shared a 70-run partnership. Rauf eventually claimed 3 scalps as Netherlands fell short by 81 runs despite Bas de Leede's 4 wickets and 67 runs.
