Ajinkya Rahane Takes Ravi Ashwin Route; Ex-India Captain Set To Play For Amsterdam ETPL After Retirement
Former India captain Ajinkya Rahane has turned to overseas franchise leagues having announced his retirement from cricket. Rahane will play for Amsterdam Flames in the inaugural European T20 Premier League, following Ravichandran Ashwin who was previously signed by Rahul Dravid's Dublin Guardians as captain.

Ajinkya Rahane is latest in line to take up franchise cricket overseas having announced his retirement late last month. The Mumbai cricketer, who also occasionally captained India in Test cricket, announced an emotional farewell to the game, ending his stint in domestic cricket with Mumbai. That also meant the end of his IPL stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders.
He has now confirmed to take part in the inaugural European T20 Premier League, signing as a marquee player for the Amsterdam Flames.
Rahane is the second Indian player to confirm their presence in the ETPl after Ravichandran Ashwin signed up for the Rahul Dravid owned Dublin Guardians. Ashwin was named captain of the franchise, while Rahane plays for the team owned by former Australia captain Steve Waugh. Mitchell Marsh, the current Asutralian T20 Captain, will helm the side.
The team has also roped in Steve Smith, Tim David, Scott Edwards, Bas de Leede, Michael Bracewell, David Payne and Richard Gleeson.
