Just days after a glass shard was found in a bun maska at the iconic Goodluck Café on Ferguson Road, yet another shocking hygiene lapse has come to light—this time at a different outlet of the same brand. A cockroach was discovered in anda bhurji served at the Goodluck Café located in the Food Plaza on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
The earlier incident at the Pune outlet had led to swift action by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which temporarily revoked the cafe’s license. Officials had directed the establishment to correct multiple hygiene issues before resuming operations. As a result, the original Ferguson Road café remains closed to date.
However, the emergence of this new complaint from the expressway outlet has once again brought Goodluck Café into the spotlight. The recurrence of such alarming issues has raised serious questions about the hygiene practices followed across its outlets, regardless of location.
Customers and food lovers alike have expressed concern, especially as the brand has long been regarded as a popular destination for local cuisine. With the latest complaint going viral on social media, pressure is mounting on authorities to take strict and immediate action.

“We temporarily cancelled the license of Cafe Goodluck at FC Road when a piece of glass was found in the bun maska. However, the café where the recent incident occurred is located on the Mumbai–Pune Highway and falls under the jurisdiction of the FDA in Dadar. They will be handling the matter.”
Rising food safety concerns
The FDA is expected to investigate the new incident and verify whether both outlets are being held to consistent health and safety standards. Public trust in the brand now hangs in the balance, as consumers await assurance of safe and hygienic food practices.
