The Pune Police have sought clarity from Sassoon General Hospital (SGH) in the latter's report on the death of Tanisha Bhise, who had been allegedly denied admission by the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital (DMH).
"The report is ambiguous and not specific on the charges levelled against the hospital. We have asked the committee for a specific report. If the report is specific, the negligence aspect will be clearer and will determine if it attracts any criminal offence," a senior police official told news agency PTI.
The police have, meanwhile, sent the report back to SGH with queries.
Bhise, wife of the personal secretary of BJP MLC Amit Gorkhe, was allegedly refused admission at DMH over non-payment of a Rs 10 lakh deposit. She later died at another hospital after delivering twin daughters.
Three reports — one by a committee set up by the state health department, another by the charity commissioner and a maternal mortality report have already been submitted to the government.
Meanwhile, Rupali Chakankar, Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will soon take a final decision in connection with the case.
