Two separate fire incidents were reported in Mumbai's Chembur and Bhandup areas on Monday. Both the fires were extinguished and no injuries were reported in both the incident, confirmed fire officials.
Early Morning Fire at Bata Showroom in Chembur
In the first incident a fire broke out in the early hours of Monday at the Bata showroom located near Malhar Hotel in Chembur. According to fire officials, the blaze affected approximately 2,000 square feet on the ground floor and a section of the basement of a commercial building situated within the Shiv Ashish CHS complex. The structure comprises a part basement, ground floor, and seven upper floors. Upon receiving the alert, the Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) responded by deploying multiple fire engines to the spot, supported by local police personnel and civic ward staff. The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 7:50 AM. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident, confirmed fire officials.
Afternoon Blaze at Plastic Godown in Bhandup
In a separate incident on Monday afternoon, a fire broke out at a plastic material godown situated on the second floor of a three-storey building (ground plus two upper floors) in Khindi pada, Bhandup. Fire officials promptly initiated firefighting operations. The blaze was found to be confined to an area of approximately 3,000 sq. ft. on the loft of the first floor. It affected electric wiring, installations, readymade garments, plastic stock, sewing machines, wooden furniture, paper documents, and related materials stored in the godown. Additionally, the fire extended to the electric wiring of an Airtel mobile tower adjacent to the structure.
