Thane: School bus catches fire at Teen Hath Naka signal; students rescued safely
A school bus of New Horizon Public School caught fire while running at the signal of Teen Hath Naka in Thane. The school bus driver, Kiran Patil with the help of traffic police immediately evacuated all the children out of the school bus safely.
Speaking with the FPJ correspondent, the Thane Municipal Corporation's (TMC) Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief Avinash Sawant informed that, "The private bus numbered MH 04 KF 4617 running from New Horizon Public School, Majiwada to Mental Hospital, Thane caught fire near the signal of Teen Hath Naka. Traffic police officers, disaster management personnel and fire brigade personnel were present at the spot along with 1-fire engine and 1 rescue vehicle. A total of 16 children were traveling in the bus and they were safely evacuated by the traffic police personnel. No one was injured in the incident. The situation is under control."
The traffic police officials from Thane said, "The battery of the bus caught fire. All the children traveling in the bus are from class I to III. Everyone has been taken out safely. Meanwhile, the bus was diverted from the side of the road to avoid traffic jams. The fire department then extinguished the fire by spraying water on the bus."
