Raigad SIR: 5.84 Lakh Enumeration Forms Uncollected, 1.98 Lakh Voters Unmapped In Draft Rolls

Raigad, September 1, 2026: As many as 5.84 lakh enumeration forms could not be collected and 1.98 lakh voters remain unmapped in Raigad district during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls.

The district has recorded 25,33,739 voters in its electoral roll data, of whom 19,49,341 have been identified following digitisation. The draft electoral rolls were published on August 31, with citizens being urged to verify their names and details and submit claims or objections by September 30.

Raigad Collector and District Election Officer Kishan Jawale made the appeal during a press conference at the Collectorate. Deputy Collector (Election) Nitin Waghmare was present.

SIR Exercise Across Seven Seats

The SIR exercise is being undertaken across all Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra as per the directions of the Election Commission of India, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. In Raigad, draft electoral rolls have been published booth-wise across all seven Assembly constituencies.

The district has 2,747 polling stations. Apart from the 5,84,118 enumeration forms that could not be collected and 1,98,341 unmapped voters, the exercise has identified 1,84,263 anomalies in the electoral data.

Panvel Assembly constituency has the highest number of voters at 6,84,095, followed by Shrivardhan with 3,62,680 and Uran with 3,57,255. Karjat has 3,19,337 voters, Alibag 3,09,580, Pen 3,05,343 and Mahad 2,95,449.

“Citizens should carefully check the draft electoral roll and cooperate with the administration by submitting claims and objections within the prescribed period. This will help ensure that the electoral roll is accurate, updated and comprehensive,” Jawale said.

Claims And Objections Until September 30

Eligible voters whose names are missing from the draft roll, as well as newly eligible voters, can submit claims between August 31 and September 30. Form 6 can be submitted for inclusion of a name along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents. Form 8 can be used to seek corrections in existing entries, while Form 7 can be filed to object to an entry and seek its deletion.

Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers will conduct hearings and dispose of claims and objections between August 31 and October 29. Lists of claims and objections received will be provided to political parties every week.

The final electoral rolls will be published on November 4.

Appeal Process And Legal Warning

An appeal against a decision of an Electoral Registration Officer can be filed before the Raigad Collector and District Election Officer within 15 days of publication of the decision under Rule 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. A further appeal against the Collector's decision can be filed before the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra, within 15 days of the decision.

The administration has cautioned citizens that submitting a false declaration or statement while seeking inclusion, correction or deletion of a name from the electoral roll is punishable under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, with imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both.
