Panvel, August 6, 2026: The Standing Committee of the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Thursday approved a series of infrastructure and welfare proposals while deferring decisions on several key civic projects, including the empanelment of consultants, sewerage repairs, public toilet renovation and water supply works.

The meeting, chaired by Standing Committee Chairman Baban Mukadam at the civic headquarters, was attended by committee members, Additional Commissioners Ganesh Shete and Maheshkumar Meghmale, Secretary Nanasaheb Kamthe, Deputy Commissioners Dr. Vaibhav Vidhate and Ravikiran Ghodke, City Engineer Rajesh Kardile, and other senior officials.

Key Projects Approved

Among the major decisions, the committee approved the construction of a municipal school at Sector 19, Plot No. 14 in Kamothe, and sanctioned the construction of a bituminous road and stormwater drain from the Panvel Fire Station to Final Plot No. 41 in Panvel city.

The committee also approved variation estimates under the Centre's Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment Scheme 2022-23 for the development of a playground on Final Plot No. 414 within the PMC limits.

A proposal to issue a work order for deploying an additional 111 personnel to assist in the removal of encroachments and unauthorised constructions through a private agency was also approved.

The Standing Committee further approved a proposal by the Women and Child Welfare Department to organise training, awareness and capacity-building programmes aimed at promoting women's entrepreneurship, self-reliance and social empowerment.

In addition, the committee approved extending, by four months, the contract for hiring vehicles—including cars, jeeps, Innovas, auto-rickshaws, buses, tempos, trucks, ambulances and electric vehicles with drivers—on a rental basis for municipal operations.

Major Proposals Deferred

However, the committee deferred several significant proposals, including the empanelment of municipal consultants for a five-year period (three years with a possible two-year extension based on performance).

It also postponed decisions on revised administrative approvals for the repair and renovation of all municipal public toilets in Ward Committee D, repairs and rehabilitation of sewerage pipelines in CIDCO-developed New Panvel (East and West) and Kalundre nodes, servicing and repair of water supply pumps in areas excluding CIDCO nodes, and additional expenditure for the repair and maintenance of parks and playgrounds across the city.
