Palghar, Maharashtra: Palghar police seized banned gutka and tobacco products worth ₹6.32 lakh from a tempo on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Dahanu on Saturday, an official reported on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted surveillance at the Charoti Toll Plaza in Ghol village and intercepted the tempo. During a search, they discovered various brands of gutka and tobacco products totaling ₹6,32,900.
The tempo was impounded, and a case has been registered against the driver and helper under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations.
