Palghar Shocker: Constable Held For Allegedly Raping Woman At Kasa Police Colony; SP Orders Action, PI Transferred

Palghar, Maharashtra, Dec 08: A shocking incident from Palghar district has raised serious questions about women’s safety, even inside police institutions. A woman who had been called to the Kasa Police Station for an inquiry was allegedly sexually assaulted by a police constable, leading to widespread outrage and prompt action from senior authorities.

Victim Called to Police Station in Domestic Dispute Case

According to information received, the woman had been asked to appear at the station in connection with a complaint filed against her in a domestic dispute case. She was summoned under the pretext of recording her statement.

However, instead of conducting the inquiry at the station, the accused constable — identified as Sharad Bogade — allegedly misused his official position and took the woman to a secluded spot within the police colony. It was there that the alleged assault took place, as outlined in the complaint.

Zero FIR Registered; Constable Booked Under Serious Charges

Once details of the incident surfaced, Palghar Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh immediately ordered that a zero FIR be registered at the Dahanu Police Station.

Bogade has been booked under serious charges, including sexual assault, rape, criminal intimidation, and misuse of authority. The case has since been transferred to Kasa Police Station for further investigation.

Accused Detained; PI Transferred Amid Public Anger

The accused constable has been detained by Kasa Police and the Local Crime Branch, and a thorough probe is underway. The incident has generated public anger across the region, with residents questioning how women can feel safe if such crimes occur within police premises.

In response to the growing outrage, the district police chief has reportedly transferred the in-charge Police Inspector of Kasa Police Station.

Senior officials have indicated that strict departmental action will be taken against the accused officer. There is also a possibility that a high-level committee will be appointed to oversee the further course of inquiry.
