Palghar: Major Water Dams Filled Over 90%
The deficit of rainfall in August had raised concerns about the water levels in reservoirs. However, the adequate rainfall in September has resolved the issue.
Palghar: Major dams of Palghar supplying water to urban areas of the district and other parts including Mira-Bhayandar are filled over 90% due to the adequate rainfall in September.
The water reservoirs in the form of dams are the major sources of water supply to Palghar, Dahanu, Jawhar Municipal Council areas and Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation as well as Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation areas.
Damani dam with a storage capacity of 276.350 million litres daily (MLD) is filled to 99.58%, with Vandri bearing a storage capacity of 35.938 MLD and Kavdas 9.969 MLD are 100% full. The other minor irrigation projects in Palghar are also filled above 90% capacity.
