Mumbai News: Retired Cop Held For Sexual Assault On 9-Year-Old Neighbour

Mumbai: A shocking incident of sexual assault on a nine-year-old girl, allegedly committed by a retired police officer who lives in her building, has come to light in the Borivali East.

Following a complaint by the victim's mother, the Kasturba Marg police have registered a case against the 67-year-old former officer under relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, along with charges of molestation. The Police arrested the accused on Monday and the court sent him into police custody until December 12. 

According to the police, the 33-year-old complainant lives with her family in Borivali East. The accused, a former police officer, resides in the same building. According to the complaint, on Sunday at around 6.51 p.m., the nine-year-old girl was standing near the lift when the accused forcibly pulled her inside. Inside the lift, allegedly sexually assaulted her and kissed her. 

The girl was deeply traumatized by the incident. Upon returning home, she narrated the events to her mother. The mother, profoundly shocked, immediately went to the Kasturba Marg police station and filed a formal complaint.

Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case against the retired officer under the POCSO Act and other relevant sections for molestation. Police stated that an investigation is underway.
