Mumbai: Hoax caller who claimed 3 terrorists entered city from Dubai arrested

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) officials have apprehended a man for allegedly making a hoax call to the Mumbai Police's Control Room claiming that three terrorists with Pakistan links have arrived in Mumbai from Dubai.

According to the ATS, the caller identified himself as Raja Thonge and gave the name of one of the “terrorists” as Mujib Mustafa Syed. He also provided three mobile numbers and details of a vehicle purportedly being used by the trio, said the official.

Caller revealed he was speaking from Pune

The caller also revealed that he was speaking from Pune. A case was then registered at Azad Maidan Police Station, police said.

On the instructions of the Additional Director General of Police (ATS), they also launched a parallel probe. With the help of technical analysis and other inputs, the ATS apprehended one Yasin Yakub Syed, an official said. During the investigation, it has been found that Mujib Syed is Yasin Syed's cousin,” the ATS claimed in a statement.

"When asked about the reason for giving false information, Yasin Syed revealed that he had a property dispute with Mujib Syed and he wanted to trouble Mujib and his family. The accused will be handed over to Azad Maidan Police Station for further investigation,” the agency officials claimed.
