Mumbai Crime News: Powai Police Arrested Two Drug Addicts For Gold Chain Theft
The Powai police arrested two drug-addicted men, Papu Mishra and Sunil Mahto, for robbing gold chains from two women on April 5. After reviewing CCTV footage, officers set a trap, recovering stolen jewelry and a KTM200 motorcycle from them.

Mumbai: The Powai police have arrested two persons in connection with two alleged chain-snatching incidents. The accused robbed two women, one in front of the IIT Market Gate and the other near Hiranandani Gardens on April 5. They were riding a sports motorcycle and snatched gold chains from the victims’ necks.

Police officials stated that the accused – Papu Mishra aka Rider and Sunil Mahto – are addicted to drugs and committed the thefts to fund their habits. Both are residents of Four Bungalows in Andheri. The police reviewed over 100 CCTV footage clips, eventually spotting the suspects heading towards the Behram Baug area of Oshiwara, where a trap was laid for them. Nearly 30gm of ornaments and a KTM200 bike was recovered from them; the motorcycle, police said, was also stolen six months ago.
