Mumbai Crime: Anti-Corruption Bureau Books 2 Traffic Police Cops For ₹15,000 Bribe Demand In Kashimira

Mumbai, April 1: The Mumbai Unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against two police personnel, including an inspector posted with the Kashimira traffic department, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a female colleague in exchange for assigning her "light duty."

Accused identified

The accused have been identified as police inspector Sagar Ingole and constable Manoj Golhar.

Complaint and verification process

The action follows a detailed verification process initiated after the complainant, a staffer at the same department, approached the ACB Mumbai unit on September 5, 2025.

According to ACB officials, the complainant was being pressured to allegedly pay Rs 15,000. The investigation revealed that during multiple verification proceedings conducted between September and October 2025, constable Golhar reiterated the demand for the bribe on behalf of his superior, while Sagar Ingole actively induced and instructed the complainant to pay the amount.

Probe findings and case registration

Despite the persistent demands, the complainant refused to yield to the corruption and cooperated with the ACB’s verification team. The verification confirmed that Ingole and Golhar acted in collusion to solicit the illegal gratification.

Following the probe led by investigating officer Dayanand Sawant, a formal case was registered at the Kashimira Police Station on March 30. Both accused are booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The case has now been officially transferred to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Thane Unit, for further investigation.
