Thane: A major fire broke out at an office in a business park in Thane on Monday. No casualties were reported in the incident. People managed to escape from the building after learning that a fire had erupted in one of the offices.

Fire at Nikhdeep Plasticars Pvt. Ltd. Office

The fire occurred at the office of Nikhdeep Plasticars Pvt. Ltd. on the second floor of Centrum Business Square’s A Wing, located in Wagale Estate, Thane.

Quick Response From Fire Teams

Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation, said they received information about the fire at around 11:00 a.m. and immediately dispatched two fire engines, two pickups, one high-rise fire tender, and one hydraulic vehicle to the spot.

A joint team from the fire brigade and the disaster management unit brought the blaze under control, fully extinguishing it within two hours.

Employees Escaped, Cause Linked to AC Short Circuit

According to RDMC officials, two employees were present in the office when the fire reportedly started from the AC unit. Upon noticing the spark, they managed to escape and alerted the fire teams and others.

Jayesh Shelke, a firefighter from Wagale Estate Fire Station, said that approximately 300 people managed to escape from the building after learning about the fire. “Our team managed to enter the building, but smoke was spreading across the area, which created hurdles in extinguishing the fire. With the help of equipment, one team entered through the staircase while another broke the glass from outside and extinguished the fire,” Shelke said.

Damage Assessment and Building Details

He added that the business park is a ground-plus-five-story structure with about 100 commercial units. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the AC unit. Computers, other electronic gadgets, and documents were reduced to ashes, while the office interiors were also damaged. Some documents have remained saved by fire team.
