Maharashtra Woman Who Was Missing, Allegedly In Pakistani Custody After Crossing LoC; Went To Meet Pastor She Met Online

Nagpur: A woman from Mahrashtra's Nagpur has vanished without a trace while journeying with her 15-year-old son in a secluded village close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Kargil, Ladakh. Her last sighting was on May 14 when she left her hotel by herself, four days after a truce was established between India and Pakistan. The 38-year-old had arrived at the hotel on May 9.

Hotel employees notified local authorities when she failed to come back by night. Kargil Additional SP Nitin Yadav mentioned that a dedicated search team is examining all perspectives, and the boy indicated they had gone to various border regions. The closeness to the LoC heightens worries about possible events, such as unintentional crossings or spying. After two days, there is still no sign of the woman, and law enforcement is collecting background information from her family in Nagpur because of the delicate situation.

Sunita, a 43-year-old female from Nagpur, crossed the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan from the Kargil district on Wednesday, leaving Indian security forces bewildered. A ex-nurse, she was said to be driven by a strong wish to connect with an online friend, a pastor from Pakistan. This event represents her third effort to cross the border, as she was halted on two earlier occasions at Attari. Her crossing has prompted major worries about border security in light of increased tensions with Pakistan.

Officials suspect she is currently in the hands of Pakistani authorities, who are looking into her motivations for this action. Indian authorities have not yet verified her interception. Reports indicate that she was found by nearby villagers in Pakistan, resulting in her capture. Before leaving, Sunita told her 15-year-old son to stay in Hundermaan, a distant village, until she returned, but he was ultimately turned over to the Ladakh police when she did not return.
