In a shocking incident late Friday night, a farmer from Buldhana district allegedly attempted to set fire to the residence of BJP MLA Sanjay Kute in Jalgaon Jamod. The accused, identified as Vishal Murud from Bawanbir village in Sangrampur taluka, was reportedly enraged over not receiving compensation for crop losses caused by unseasonal and excessive rainfall.
According to police, Murud entered the MLA’s premises around midnight carrying petrol cans. Eyewitnesses say he shouted, “I haven’t received compensation for my damaged crops, so I’ll burn down the MLA’s house,” as he moved towards the entrance gate. Kute was present in the bungalow at the time of the incident. Fortunately, Kute’s personal assistant noticed Murud’s movements and intervened, detaining him before he could cause any harm. He was then handed over to the police. Police have registered a case under Sections 333 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway by the Jalgaon Jamod police.
