Thane: Man arrested for theft, later killing cousin
Accused Jayesh Khadke (20) and victim Vishal Khadke (19) are cousin brothers.

Kinhavali police officials succeeded in arresting a thief and also solving the murder case where an accused man was first involved in theft and later killed his cousin's brother when he asked to return the theft items to the original owner.
Assistant police inspector Gajendra Palave, said, "Accused Jayesh Khadke (20) and victim Vishal Khadke (19) are cousin brothers. On June 1, 2022, they committed theft and stole jewellery from a house in Shahapur taluka of Thane district. After the theft, victim Vishal asked accused Jayesh to return the valuables as the crime would give them a bad name in the society."
Palave further added, "Jayesh got angry when Vishal asked him to return the valuables and he thought that the victim will inform others due to this, the accused killed Vishal by hitting him with a stone and tried to pass it off as a suicide. The murder took place on June 8, 2022. When a few people asked Jayesh about Vishal's whereabouts, he confused them giving them weird responses. Soon people doubted something and they made a complaint with us regarding a murder on June 13. We started the investigation and as a suspect, we called Jayesh for the interrogation. During interrogation, Jayesh confessed to both theft and murder "
Palave said, "The accused Jayesh was arrested for the theft and now we have also registered a case of murder against him under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 and are conducting a further probe into the matter."
