Mumbai: In a major step towards strengthening cybercrime enforcement and inter-agency collaboration, the Maharashtra State Cyber Department conducted a one-day specialized workshop for officials from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) on June 6, at its headquarters in Mahape, Navi Mumbai.
According to Maharashtra Cyber Official's, Organized under the Maharashtra Cyber Security Project, the one-day session was aimed at enhancing SEBI’s capabilities in combating sophisticated financial cybercrimes, particularly those involving fake trading apps and fraudulent investment schemes—growing threats in India’s financial sector.
Held at the department’s Centre of Excellence (CoE), the workshop featured hands-on training in cybercrime investigation, digital forensics, and cybersecurity strategies. Experts from Maharashtra Cyber showcased cutting-edge tools including cryptocurrency tracing platforms, deepfake detection software, OSINT utilities, and link analysis systems.
Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on tracing digital financial trails, analyzing online fraud patterns, and leveraging social media intelligence. The workshop fostered strong inter-agency dialogue, equipping SEBI officials with actionable insights into modern cybercrime techniques and investigative responses.
