IPL Final 2026: Western Railway To Run Special Mumbai-Ahmedabad Train For Cricket Fans

Mumbai: Anticipating a surge in passenger traffic for the IPL 2026 final scheduled at Ahmedabad on May 31, Western Railway has announced two pairs of special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The services are aimed at providing convenient travel options for thousands of cricket fans expected to travel to the Narendra Modi Stadium for the title clash.

The highlight of the arrangement is Train No. 09021 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special, which will leave Mumbai Central at 6.20 am on May 31 and reach Ahmedabad at 12.40 pm, allowing fans to comfortably reach the city on match day. The return service, Train No. 09022, will depart Ahmedabad at 3.10 pm the same day and reach Mumbai Central at 9.45 pm. The train will run with a premium Shatabdi rake comprising Executive Chair Car, AC Chair Car, Anubhuti Class and a Vistadome coach.

In addition, Western Railway will operate Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Superfast Special on June 1 and Train No. 09043 Bandra Terminus–Vatva Superfast Special the same night to handle post-match passenger movement. These trains will consist of AC three-tier and Sleeper Class coaches, offering a more affordable option for travellers.

The special services will halt at key stations including Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch and Vadodara. Railway officials said the trains have been introduced considering the expected heavy rush of passengers travelling between Mumbai and Ahmedabad for the IPL final weekend.

Bookings for all four special trains will open from May 30 at PRS counters and through the IRCTC platform. Passengers have been advised to check detailed schedules and coach composition before planning their journey.
