The Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted raids at multiple premises of Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Rajan Salvi in Ratnagiri district, and filed a case against him and his two family members for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets.
Salvi represents the Rajapur assembly constituency and belongs to the Uddhav Bal Thackeray-led faction of the Shiv Sena.
Case against Salvi
The ACB, in a statement issued on Thursday, claimed that taking into account of the known income expenditure and assets of Salvi and his family members, it has come to light that Salvi and others, for the period October 2009 to December 2, 2022, had amassed disproportionate income of Rs 3.53 crore, which is 118.96% more than his known source of income. Since Salvi had not given any satisfactory disclosure regarding the same, a case has been registered on Thursday under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The agency officials further claimed that a search operation had been initiated at the residence of Salvi, hotel, office and seven other related places linked to him at the same time by ACB teams. “If any property related documents or other income information comes to light following the searches, then that too will also be probed,” said Superintendent of Police, ACB, Sunil Lokhande.
