Suffering From Heatwave? Ayurveda Offers Simple Solutions To Fight Summer Heat
Yoga guru Swami Ramdev, the co-founder of Patanjali Ayurved, speaks of simple ingredients to remain healthy and cool in the season.

Across India, the heatwave is making daily life uncomfortable and triggering several health concerns. Ayurveda offers natural ways to cope with extreme summer temperatures. It also explains how excessive heat affects the body and overall wellbeing. Swami Ramdev, yoga guru and co-founder of Patanjali Ayurveda, shares Ayurvedic suggestions to stay healthy during summer and recommends related Patanjali products that may help the body stay cool.
Health Issues in Summer Heat
Extreme heat can lead to exhaustion and symptoms such as dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea and headaches. Dehydration may also increase the risk of kidney damage. In severe cases, heatstroke can result in organ failure or even death. High temperatures can put stress on the heart as well. Many people also suffer from skin problems like rashes and sunburn during this season.
Digestive issues such as constipation and diarrhoea are common in summer too. According to Ayurveda, excessive heat increases the Pitta dosha, which can trigger several related health problems. Swami Ramdev, yoga guru and co-founder of Patanjali Ayurved, says, “Many drink soft drinks or cold drinks these days. They destroy your health. Eating sweets develops too much body heat.”
Swamiji suggests simple Ayurvedic practices to help the body stay cool and healthy during the season. He also recommends relevant Patanjali products that may be useful in summer.
Simple Ayurvedic Ways to Fight Summer Heat
Bel: Bel, also known as wood apple, is a cooling summer fruit that helps the body cope with extreme heat. It may help prevent heatstroke, fatigue and dehydration while also supporting digestion and easing constipation. It also helps replenish lost electrolytes during hot weather. Swamiji recommends consuming bel in different forms, including raw fruit, sharbat and even bel candy. Patanjali Bel Sharbat (750 Ml) contains vitamins and nutrients that may help the body stay cool during summer.
Lemon: Lemon is known for its hydrating properties and helps restore lost electrolytes, which may reduce the risk of heatstroke. Rich in vitamin C, it also supports skin health during harsh summer conditions. This refreshing ingredient acts as an instant energy booster and helps fight summer fatigue. Patanjali Lemon Drink (250 and 500 Ml) has nutrients like sodium that help maintain hydration and support overall summer health.

Orange: Swamiji advises eating oranges in different forms, including raw, in drinks and as part of meals. Their high water content and potassium help prevent dehydration during summer. Rich in vitamin C, oranges also support immunity, which can weaken in extreme heat. Their fibre content aids digestion, which often slows down in hot weather. Orange Aloe Chunk Drink (200 Ml) combines the benefits of orange and aloe vera to help the body manage seasonal summer issues.
Mosambi: Swamiji also recommends mosambi, or sweet lime, as it is rich in nutrients like potassium that help the body cope with summer heat. Its hydrating properties help reduce tiredness and fatigue. High in vitamin C, mosambi supports immunity, promotes healthy skin and may help protect against seasonal infections. It is also believed to help cleanse the system and support liver and kidney health. The fruit’s natural sugars provide quick energy during hot weather. Patanjali Mosambi Drink (250 and 500 Ml) supports immunity, digestion, skin health, energy levels and acidity management
Gulkand: Swamiji suggests eating gulkand with hot milk at night during summer. Made from rose petals, this traditional Ayurvedic preserve is known for its natural cooling properties and helps maintain body temperature. It may also help manage acidity and fatigue while supporting the skin against summer-related issues such as rashes. Consume the cool Divya Gulkand (400 Gms) to tackle heat-related problems like tiredness, constipation, acidity and low energy levels.
Sattu: Swamiji strongly recommends including sattu in the summer diet for strength and cooling. He says, “Those with coughs and colds in summer should eat sattu roti or drink sattu in hot water. Others can have sattu in cold water. Add onion, green chilli, coriander, mint, a pinch of cumin, lemon, and rock salt to the drink. Or else, add water to two tbsp of sattu and a little rock salt.” Patanjali Chana Sattu (500 Gms) is a nutritious and cooling ingredient that can be used to prepare a variety of summer-friendly foods and drinks.
Barley Atta and Dalia: Barley is considered an ideal summer superfood because of its hydrating and cooling properties that help maintain body temperature. Its high fibre content supports digestion and gut health, while its low glycaemic index helps maintain steady energy levels without sudden sugar spikes. Barley also contains nutrients like selenium, magnesium and phosphorus, which help provide strength and stamina during extreme heat. Patanjali Barley Dalia (500 Gms) is a nutritious option that can be used to prepare summer dishes such as porridge.
This summer, simple ingredients and Ayurvedic practices can help the body cope with heat-related issues and maintain overall health. The suggestions shared by Swami Ramdev of Patanjali Ayurved, along with related Patanjali products, may help support wellness during the season.
