Old and frequently damaged signals will be replaced with modern, better-quality ones.
The timing of all signals will now be set using scientific methods based on traffic flow. Also, to keep signals running smoothly at all times, backup power through solar energy or batteries will be arranged.
The aim of these steps is to make traffic smoother, reduce accidents, and provide better convenience for drivers.
In the same meeting, it was also decided that vehicles breaking traffic rules more than 10 times will have their registration cancelled. So far, 29 vehicles have already lost their registration. These vehicles will now be seized by the transport and traffic departments. In the future, even vehicles violating rules more than 5 times may face cancellation.
The e-challan collection system will also be improved. It will first be tested at 2–3 intersections, and later expanded across the city.
Strict action will also be taken against illegal bus stands. No bus will be allowed to pick up passengers from the roadside. All such vehicles will be shifted to approved locations.
Other decisions taken in the meeting:
No speed breaker will be made without permission. If done, the concerned engineer will face action.
Traffic police must be present at all intersections.
Left-turn points and accident-prone ‘black spots’ will be improved.
Municipal Corporation and Smart City officials will help improve traffic systems with technical support.
