Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A youth, suspect of mobile theft, was found hanging at a vacant flat in Silicon City under Rau police station limits on Wednesday evening.
The family members alleged foul play that he was being killed by someone. The deceased was identified as Shravan Dangi, a resident of Kadambiri Nagar.
He was allegedly involved in a mobile theft that occurred three days prior to the incident in a hostel. However, the police denied such claims in the initial investigation. The flat where Shravan’s body was found had been locked by a broker who was overseeing repair work. When the broker reached on Wednesday evening and found the door locked from inside, he informed the police.
The police broke the door and found Shravan hanging. His family suspects foul play and has alleged that he might have been killed.
Alleged involvement in theft
Students living in Silicon City have claimed that Shravan had broken into a paying guest (PG) accommodation on the night of April 6 and stole a mobile phone, charger and other electronic items. Mihir Dasaura, an MBA student whose belongings were stolen, said that CCTV footage showed a man entering the rooms around 1:49 am.
Mihir filed a report with the police on April 7 and shared the footage, but alleged that police did not take his complaint seriously. He and his friends later tried to trace the suspect using the footage and claimed that the man seen in the video closely resembled Shravan.
Rau police station in-charge Rajpal Singh Rathore said that the investigation is ongoing and no evidence has been came to light that he was involved in the theft. "We will compare the CCTV footage with the deceased and also take statements from his family. Only after a thorough investigation, the exact picture will be clear," he added.
