Indore: India should follow Singapore in sex determination rules, says Dr Bhatele
He suggested that sex determination of all pregnant women should be allowed with ensuring her delivery with the help of cops, doctors, and institutions

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): “Efforts for putting a check on foetus sex determination by the government are not proving enough. Government must follow Singapore in terms of sex determination rules by allowing determination of sex but also ensure delivery by all pregnant women with the help of police, doctors and other institutions,” national president of Indian Radiology Association Dr Pushpraj Bhatele said.
He was in the city to attend the radiology conference christened Sono Summit 2022 which was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Shankar Lalwani on Saturday.
“We don’t have ample manpower to ensure strict norms to be followed. Most of those involved in sex determination are not the members of our society. Similarly, along with enforcement, we must work in changing the mentality of people as those involved in sex determination are equally guilty as those asking for the same,” he added.
The association’s chief also added that the government must take strict action against those involved in such activities. He also accepted that the number of girls has increased in the last few years due to awareness among people.
Organising committee’s Dr Rajendra Sodani said that various paper presentations and talks were organised during the conference and an exhibition of advanced equipment had also taken place.
“Former president Dr Hemant Patel informed the participants about fellowships run by the association while Dr C Amarnath informed about Raksha Project of the association in which distribution of school uniforms, books, sanitary pads and others are being done,” Dr Sodani added.
