Bizarre! Ujjain Family Performs Daughter's 'Pind Daan' After She Marries Boyfriend

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): In a bizarre incident, a family performed the ‘Pind Daan’ of their daughter after she married a youth from another caste and refused to recognise them.

According to information, the matter pertains to Khachrod region in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. Here, a young woman defied her family's wishes by eloping with her boyfriend and getting married to him against their consent.

After this, her family filed her ‘missing report’ with Khachrod police. The police then found her and brought her to the police station along with her husband. 

However, when the police asked her to confirm whether it’s her family, she refused to recognise them. 

Family members shaved their heads

Heartbroken and angered by this, the family even went to the extent of printing Megha’s funeral invitation and inviting the entire community to perform her last rites.

The family also gathered the entire village and performed her 'Pind Daan.' They shaved their heads as part of the ritual and organized a 'Shanti Bhoj.' 

Message on funeral invitation 

The funeral invitation mentioned that today's youth are misusing modern communication tools and taking advantage of their parents' kindness. They disregard their families and social values. 

It further highlighted the increasing trend of inter-caste marriages, which the family portrayed as a matter of concern for society.

The message in the invitation stated that they had taken such an extreme step to uphold family and societal dignity. It mentioned their daughter’s elopement with a youth and officially declared her ‘death’ on March 15, 2025.
