West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refused to resign after the TMC’s defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, calling the verdict a “conspiracy”. West Bengal Governor RN Ravi on Thursday dissolved the assembly on completion of 5 year tenure.
The development came days after the All India Trinamool Congress chief publicly rejected calls to step down despite the party’s crushing loss in the state elections. Mamata alleged that the election outcome was “not a mandate but a conspiracy” and questioned the credibility of the verdict.

Addressing party leaders and supporters on Tuesday, Banerjee asserted that she would continue her political battle and would not surrender under pressure.
