West Bengal Governor RN Ravi on Thursday dissolved the assembly on completion of 5 year tenure.

The development came days after the All India Trinamool Congress chief publicly rejected calls to step down despite the party’s crushing loss in the state elections. Mamata alleged that the election outcome was “not a mandate but a conspiracy” and questioned the credibility of the verdict.

Addressing party leaders and supporters on Tuesday, Banerjee asserted that she would continue her political battle and would not surrender under pressure. She also pledged to strengthen the opposition INDIA bloc at the national level and said her fight would continue both politically and on the streets.
