BJP workers in Delhi on Wednesday protested against the renovation of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's house. A large number of BJP supporters can be seen in the visuals protesting with slogans while the police authorities are trying to control the situation.

A report by Times Now claimed that the official residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, located in Civil Lines, has been renovated with nearly Rs 45 crore. The report titled "Operation Sheeshmahal" allegedly revealed that taxpayers' money was used to refurbish the CM's official bungalow extravagantly. The BJP reacted to the report, with several leaders slamming the AAP and demanding Kejriwal's resignation from the post of Delhi CM.

Extravagant expenditures allegedly made during renovation

According to the report, the renovation of the CM's official residence involved several extravagant expenditures. The curtains in Kejriwal's house cost around Rs 5-8 lakh per piece, with a total of 23 curtains costing around Rs 97 lakhs. The marble used in flooring was imported from Vietnam at a cost of Rs 3 crore. Six almirahs at Kejriwal's residence cost Rs 40 lakh, and six carpets were bought at a cost of more than Rs 19 lakh.

BJP leaders slam Kejriwal

Following the report, several BJP leaders have criticized Kejriwal and questioned the AAP's values. Andhra Pradesh BJP state general secretary Vishnu Vardha Rajan took a dig at Kejriwal's 'common man' image portrayal and accused him of spending public money on his luxury.

Uttarakhand BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga called the Delhi CM a thief for importing marble worth Rs 3.5 crore for his 'palace' from Vietnam using government funds. Another BJP leader Kapil Mishra accused Kejriwal of leading a debauched life, and Virendra Sachdeva, the state BJP head, asked Kejriwal to resign immediately.

Calls for Kejriwal's resignation

The #OperationSheeshmahal row led to demands for Kejriwal's resignation from the post of Delhi CM. Vishnu Vardha Rajan, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, Kapil Mishra, and Virendra Sachdeva have all called for Kejriwal to step down, citing his alleged misuse of public funds for his personal luxury. Sachdeva has asked Kejriwal to open his Sheeshmahal for public viewing and accept moral responsibility for his actions.
