Maliwal had claimed that she was dragged along for about 15 metres before she freed herself

The chief of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, claimed that a drunk driver dragged her after harassing her on the road at a well-known location in Delhi, and the incident was captured horrifyingly on video.

Maliwal was out on reality check when the incident happened

When Maliwal went out on Wednesday night "for a reality check" on the safety of women in the city, she said that she was harassed and dragged 15 metres close to the AIIMS hospital in Delhi.

"Sorry. I can't hear you. Where will you drop me off? I have to go home. My relatives are on the way," the woman's panel's 38-year-old leader is heard in the video instructing Harish Chandra, the man who pulled up in a Baleno car and reportedly forced her into it.

Following Maliwal's departure, the man can be seen driving off before making a U-turn and coming back, as seen in the video.

"Where are you going to leave me? You have come here two times now. I keep stating that I don't want this "A woman can be heard shouting and seen reaching through the glass to grab something in the video. After which, the man drives off.

What did police say?

"Acting on a distress call by Ms. Swati Maliwal, South Distt. Police swung into action, apprehended the alleged Baleno car within 22 Minutes. FIR under relevant section has been registered & accused arrested. Further investigation is on," Delhi police had tweeted on Thursday.

Maliwal had claimed that she was dragged along for about 15 metres before she freed herself. This comes days after a young girl was dragged for 12 km on the eve of New Year in the capital.
