Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the first virtual rally for Uttar Pradesh on 31st January, news agency ANI reported.

The virtual address comes owing to Election Commission's ban on physical rallies and road shows till January 31 due to surging cases of the COVID-19 infections.

Times of India, citing its sources reported that the virtual rally on January 31 would be strategized in a way that it covers at least four to five districts of western UP region at a time. According to the initial plan, this event would cover districts like Saharanpur, Baghpat, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar and Gautam Buddh Nagar.

The saffron part plans to reach out to 21 assembly constituencies through this event. Though the draft proposal to organize the event is being readied, sources told TOI that every BJP mandal would have one LED screen on display for PM Modi's virtual event in these districts.

The objective is to bring around 500 people- the maximum figure allowed by the EC for a meeting - to one LED screen. This way through LED screens, the BJP hopes to reach out to 50,000 people in one virtual rally, sources said.

Besides LED screens, PM Modi's rally would also be streamed live on all social media platforms, the reported further said.
