Greater Noida: Seema Haider, who illegally entered India from Pakistan in 2023, has named her newborn son "Bharat". The naming ceremony took place on Thursday at her home in Rabupura, Noida. The priest had said that the child's name should begin with "Bha", hence she named her child Bharat.
"Today is my son’s naming ceremony. There was a vigil last night, and according to Hindu tradition, when a son is born, a naming ceremony is performed. I feel extremely happy and blessed," she said, speaking to news agency IANS.
During the naming ceremony, Seema also praised the customs and rituals of the Hindu religion.
"Seema Meena’s newborn child underwent the Namkaran Sanskar (naming ceremony), which is a traditional ritual of Sanatan Dharma based on customs and traditions. The ceremony was organized according to these practices. Yesterday, during the Jagran for Mata Durga, the priest suggested the name, and 'Bharat' was chosen as it is considered the best name," Seema's lawyer AP Singh said.
Seema gave birth to her son on 18 February 2026 in a Noida hospital. She had previously given birth to a daughter. Seema has four children with her Pakistani ex-husband and two with her Indian husband, Sachin Meena.
