Jaipur, June 9: Seven persons were killed in a massive fire that broke out at a firecracker factory and warehouse in the Khoh Nagorian area of Jaipur on Tuesday afternoon.
Running in a residential area, the firecracker factory was engulfed in flames so rapidly that the workers inside could not escape or react and got trapped in the fire.
Details of the victims
Among the deceased, three were charred to death on the spot, while five were rushed to the hospital after sustaining serious burns. Four of them could not survive, and one is reported to be in critical condition.
The deceased include Abdul Wahid, Rabil, Bilal, Sameer, and Azeem (alias Avid), while two victims have not yet been identified.
Emergency response and containment
The additional district magistrate, Yugantar Sharma, said that information regarding the fire in the Khoh Nagorian area was received around 11:30 AM, and fire tenders immediately arrived at the site and began efforts to bring the blaze under control. Ambulance and police teams also reached the location. The fire was brought under control within approximately half an hour.
Jaipur Collector Sandesh Nayak stated that the firecracker factory and warehouse is located near the ITI College in the Ayesha Nagar Talai area of Khoh Nagorian. The fire broke out due to the presence of flammable materials. The situation will become clear following a full investigation.
Previous similar incidents
Notably, a similar incident had occurred at an illegal firecracker factory located in the Khushkheda-Karauli Industrial Area of Bhiwadi a few weeks ago.
