Lyricist and playback singer Swanand Kirkire is the latest celebrity to react to the Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina India's Got Latent row, which has sparked major controversy. He stated that they should be forgiven since they have already apologised.
"A certain decorum should be maintained. What actually happened is that cameras became a part of our lives, and we didn't even realise the difference between conversations meant for friends and those meant for family," said the singer at the Aaj Tak event.

Further, the 52-year-old singer said that there are several things said in the country and the world that should never have been said, yet they were spoken regardless. "Our country has given them the punishment they deserved, and they have even apologised with tears," he added.
Swanand stated that comedy doesn’t just mean roasting or humiliating someone. If one person roasts others to gain fame and another agrees to be roasted for the same reason, it doesn’t make either act right; it makes both wrong.
"There shouldn't be control through laws, which is why content creators must act responsibly. Otherwise, it will become a reason for legal restrictions, and once that happens, many voices will be silenced", he concluded.
All about India's Got Latent controversy
It all started after Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have s** every day or join them to finish it once and for all?" he asked. The question even surprised Samay. "What the f***?" he said.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Ranveer, Samay, and others over the derogatory remarks made by Allahbadia during an episode. The hearing is scheduled for February 17, 2025.
