Speaking to the media outside the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, the doctor said that on Tuesday morning, Salim was brought to Lilavati Hospital by his family physician. He was initially treated in the casualty ward, where doctors administered medications and realised that he required ICU hospitalisation, following which he was shifted to the ICU.
However, he had high blood pressure, for which he was treated, and was placed on a ventilator as a precaution to prevent his condition from worsening while certain investigations were conducted. The doctor confirmed that the ventilator was used purely as a safeguard and not because he was critical.
