Meera Jasmine-Narain to team up in 'Queen Elizabeth'
Directed by M Padmakumar, the film marks the lead pair's reunion on-screen after 17 years

Actor Meera Jasmine, who made her comeback to Malayalam cinema in 2022's 'Makal' by director Sathyan Anthikad is all set to team up with actor Narain for their next, 'Queen Elizabeth'.
Penned by Arjun T Sathyan, the film will be helmed by M Padmakumar and produced by Ranjith
Manambarakatt and Sriram Manambarakatt under the banner Blue Mount Productions.
Implying what the plot of the film entails, writer Sathyan said, "It's an urban middle-age rom-com with a satirical tone."
Shooting on the film commenced on Monday following a small function with key unit members. Besides the lead pair, the film will also feature an ensemble of actors including Shweta Menon, Ramesh Pisharody, Johnny Antony, Arya, Vineeth Vishwam and Mallika Sukumaran.
Director Padmakumar implies that 'Queen Elizabeth' will focus on a relevant social issue. The shoot of the film will be held across Kochi, Kuttikanam and Coimbatore.
The film marks the reunion of Jasmine and Narain after they last worked together in 'Achuvinte Amma' (2005)
Jasmine, who had taken a brief sabbatical from acting to foucs upon her business in and around UAE and Europe, had expressed that she wanted to make a comeback to films only if she was promised roles that were not run-off-the-mill. Ever since she made her debut in Soothradharan (2021), the actress has always played parts that defied convention. Within two years of acting, she picked up the National Award as Best Actor for 'Paadam Onnu: Oru Vilapam' (2004).
It will be interesting to watch Jasmine and Narain together on-screen after more than 17 years.
