Reportedly, for starring in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, Deepika Padukone had demanded that she would only work for eight hours as she is a new mother. However, things didn't work out between the actress and the filmmaker, and Deepika was replaced by Triptii Dimri. While there's no confirmation about the Padmaavat actress' demand, it has started a discussion among the industry about the fewer working hours for new mothers. Many celebrities have spoken about it, and recently, in an interview, even Vidya Balan shared her views on it.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter India, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actress said, “There is a conversation about how mothers need to have an option to work for fewer hours, flexible hours, right? And I think that’s fair."

“Every industry is adopting those practices so that we don’t lose out on new mothers, or women in the early years of them having children, so I think it’s very important that we do have flexible working hours for women, she added.

Vidya Balan Says That As She Is Not A Mother She Can Do 12-Hour Shift

However, while talking about her working hours and shifts, the actress stated that as she is not a mother, she can work for 12 hours. Vidya said, “With the kind of films that I do, we cannot afford to shoot only for eight hours. And I am not a mother, so I have all the time in the world to be doing a 12-hour shift.”
