'I Think That’s Fair': Vidya Balan Supports Fewer & Flexible Working Hours For New Mothers Amid Deepika Padukone-Sandeep Reddy Vanga Row
Vidya Balan, in an interview, has spoken about the fewer and flexible working hours for new mothers. The actress stated, “There is conversation about how mothers need to have an option to work for fewer hours, flexible hours, right? And I think that’s fair." This discussion started after reportedly Deepika Padukone asked for an eight-hour shift for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit.

Reportedly, for starring in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, Deepika Padukone had demanded that she would only work for eight hours as she is a new mother. However, things didn't work out between the actress and the filmmaker, and Deepika was replaced by Triptii Dimri. While there's no confirmation about the Padmaavat actress' demand, it has started a discussion among the industry about the fewer working hours for new mothers. Many celebrities have spoken about it, and recently, in an interview, even Vidya Balan shared her views on it.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter India, the Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actress said, “There is a conversation about how mothers need to have an option to work for fewer hours, flexible hours, right? And I think that’s fair."
“Every industry is adopting those practices so that we don’t lose out on new mothers, or women in the early years of them having children, so I think it’s very important that we do have flexible working hours for women, she added.
