'He Isn't Selling Drugs Or Gambling': Paresh Rawal Defends Akshay Kumar For Doing 4-5 Films A Year
Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar have worked in comedy films like Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, Welcome, Garam Masala, Awara Paagal Deewana, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, OMG: Oh My God, and more. They last shared screen space in the 2024 film Sarfira

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has come to the defense of his Hera Pheri co-star Akshay Kumar, addressing criticism regarding Akshay’s decision to do multiple films a year. While some argue that taking on four to five projects annually affects the quality of his work, Paresh sees no issue with his longtime friend's work ethic.
It may be noted that the duo has done over 20 films together. Praising Akshay’s professionalism, Paresh stated during an interview with Siddharth Kanan that working with him is always enjoyable. "Working with him is fun; money is just an added bonus," he said.
When asked about the perception that Akshay’s busy schedule impacts the quality of his filmography, Paresh dismissed the criticism outright. "Honestly, what is your problem if he does so many films? People go to him to make the films, right? As a producer, I would sign an actor only if I can account for the money I am investing," he stated.
Paresh further said that questioning Akshay’s choice to work is unfair. "He just likes to work. He isn’t smuggling, bootlegging, selling drugs, or gambling. He is just working as much as he possibly can. And more importantly, his films are also a source of employment for thousands. Where is the problem?" he asked.
Paresh and Akshay have worked in comedy films like Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, Welcome, Garam Masala, Awara Paagal Deewana, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, OMG: Oh My God, and more. They last shared screen space in the 2024 film Sarfira.
The duo will reunite for upcoming films like Bhoot Bangla and Hera Pheri 3.
On the other hand, Akshay, who was alst seen on the big screens in Sky Force, has an interesting line-up of films. He will next be seen in Kesari Chapter 2, Housefull 5, Welcome To The Jungle and more.
