Death On The Nile Actor And Katy Perry’s Ex-Husband Russell Brand Charged With Rape, Sexual Assault

The comedian and actor, Russell Brand, who has been a part of many films like Paradise, Army of One, Death on the Nile and others, has been charged with multiple sexual offenses, including rape, indecent assault, and oral rape. The charges are for the incidents that took place between 1999 and 2005. The London’s Metropolitan Police has stated that the actor will have to appear in court on May 2, 2025.                                    

According to The Gaurdian, the 49-year-old actor allegedlyraped a woman in 1999 in the Bournemouth, indecently assaulted a woman in 2001 in the Westminster, orally raped and sexually assaulted a woman in 2004 in Westminster and sexually assaulted a woman in Westminster between 2004 and 2005. 

The allegations came into limelight in September 2023 when four women claimed they were sexually assaulted or raped by the actor. Russell has denied the accusations, stating that all his relationships were consensual.

Apart from being actor Russell is a stand-up comedian, and has won multiple awards for it. He got married to singer Katy Perry in 2010, and later, in 2012, the two parted ways. Interestingly, Katy and Russell had a Hindu wedding at Aman-e-Khas luxury resort outside the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary, Rajasthan.

On Thursday, the actor shared a video on his Instagram, in which he is talking about his ex-wife Katy. He captioned the post as, “When I was married to Katy Perry, there wasn’t anything off-key with her, nor was she involved in anything nefarious. Our marriage didn’t work out for normal, human reasons. I have nothing but respect for her! (Plus, my daughters LOVE Katy Perry).”

After five years of his divorce with Katy, in 2017, he got married to Laura Gallacher. She is an author and they have three kids together. The actor has been away from the limelight from the past couple of years, but he is very active on social media.
