Actor Darshan Arrested Again In Renukaswamy Murder Case Hours After SC Cancels Bail
Kannada actor Darshan was arrested by the Bengaluru Police on Thursday, hours after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail that was granted to him by the Karnataka High Court. The apex court had called HC's decision to grant bail to the actor illogical and perverse. He was first arrested on June 11, 2024, but was granted bail on December 13.

Kannada actor Darshan was arrested by the Bengaluru Police on Thursday, hours after the Supreme Court cancelled the bail that was granted to him by the Karnataka High Court. The apex court had called HC's decision to grant bail to the actor illogical and perverse.
Reversing the HC's decision, the SC bench said on Thursday that no man should think he was above law. "The High Court order reflects mechanical exercise of power. The grant of bail will impact the trial, and the witnesses can be influenced," SC ruled.
Along with Darshan's, the SC also cancelled Pavithra Gowda's bail, and soon after, she was arrested from her Bengaluru residence. In a video, she can be seen being escorted out of her house by the police, and was seen getting irritated as media gathered outside her house.

Darshan, along with live-in partner and actress Pavithra Gowda and several others, was first arrested on June 11, 2024, for the murder of Renukaswamy in Bengaluru. It all began when Renukaswamy, who claimed to be a fan of Pavithra Gowda, allegedly sent lewd messages to the actress, which enraged Darshan. Renukaswamy's mangled body was found in a drain in Bengaluru on June 8.
While in police custody, Darshan confessed to having tortured Renukaswamy before he died. According to the 3,991-page chargesheet, Darshan told the cops that he hit Renukaswamy with a tree branch and also kicked him on his head, chest and near his neck. He also admitted that he asked a bunch of his own fans to kidnap Renukaswamy and "teach him a lesson".
