Aamir Khan Visits Bhuj Village Where Lagaan Was Shot 25 Years Ago For Special Screening Of Sitaare Zameen Par
Actor Aamir Khan visited the iconic village near Bhuj where his Oscar-nominated film Lagaan was shot 25 years ago, for a special screening of his latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, on Friday. The screening is a part of Aamir's initiative to bring cinema closer to people even in the nooks and corners of the country.

Actor Aamir Khan visited the iconic village near Bhuj where his Oscar-nominated film Lagaan was shot 25 years ago, for a special screening of his latest release, Sitaare Zameen Par, on Friday. The screening is a part of Aamir's initiative to bring cinema closer to people even in the nooks and corners of the country.
As per reports, locals of the village, named Kunariya, welcomed the actor with enthusiasm there, and he watched the film along with the people of the village.
Sitaare Zameen Par released in theatres on June 20 and it went on to earn more than Rs 250 crore, and was thus declared a blockbuster.The film starred Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar, along with Aamir and Genelia D'Souza. It was directed by RS Prasanna, who previously helmed Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.

Sitaare Zameen Par is now available to stream online on YouTube as a part of Aamir's new initiative, wherein users will have to pay Rs 100 to watch his films on his channel. As per the pay-per-view model, one can watch the film from the comfort of their homes within 48 hours of hitting the play button.
Aamir revealed that the move was to ensure more people go to cinema halls to watch films at a time when theatres are suffering due to the OTT boom, and to also make cinemas affordable and accessible in every nook and corner of the country.
