Panna (Madhya Pradesh): A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Panna district after a woman and two men were timely rescued by locals from being swept away in a rain-swollen stream.

The incident occurred on the Khor-Amarchhi route in Panna District, where the stream had swollen following heavy rainfall in the area.

According to information, the three individuals were attempting to cross the overflowing water on a motorcycle when the force of the current caused the vehicle to lose balance.

Within moments, the motorcycle was swept away and the three riders were caught in the strong flow.

A video of the incident, showing the frightening situation, has surfaced and is being circulated.

Villagers who were present near the spot immediately noticed the three struggling in the water. Showing courage and presence of mind, they entered the swollen stream and managed to reach the individuals before the situation turned fatal. The villagers pulled all three out of the water safely.

Although the three individuals escaped without any reported major injury, their motorcycle could not be saved and was carried away by the powerful current.

The incident once again highlights the risks involved in crossing swollen streams and culverts during the monsoon.

Water levels and current strength can change rapidly after heavy rainfall, making it difficult to judge whether a route is safe to cross.

Residents have been urged to avoid attempting to cross overflowing rivers, streams and culverts during heavy rains and to wait until the water recedes.

A moment of haste or misjudgment can result in a serious accident or loss of life.

The timely intervention of the villagers prevented what could have been a major tragedy and saved all three individuals from being swept away by the strong current.
