Due to continuous heavy rainfall in the Pahargarh forest area, the water level of the dam has risen sharply. To control the situation, all automatic gates of the dam have been opened.
According to officials, nearly 28,000 cusecs of water is being discharged into the river from the dam. This may lead to waterlogging and possible flood-like situations in the low-lying areas. The released water is expected to flow into the Asan River, causing its water level to rise quickly.
The district administration has advised people to stay alert and avoid going near rivers or low-lying settlements. Teams have been kept on high alert to monitor areas that could be affected if the rainfall continues.
Authorities have said that while drinking water supply from the dam is still ongoing, the main focus right now is on managing the water level and ensuring safe water release. The situation is being monitored round the clock.
